The summary: A series of key visuals for The Place, a leading UK dance organisation dedicated to dance education, performance and artist development. The project established a cohesive visual identity across the Artist Development programme, which supports dance artists through residencies, research, professional development and creative collaboration.
The aim: To visually represent a series of experimental dance and performance programmes exploring a broad spectrum of ideas, from hip-hop and South Asian dance practices to circus and poetry, identity, generational conflict, and human relationships in all their forms. The key visual series needed to be rooted in the body.
The solution: I explored the fluid spatial dynamics of dance through fragmented body movements and architectural compositions inspired by the structure of the three programmes. By combining body fragments with other materials and textures, I created visuals that retain the physicality of dance while pushing beyond its conventional representation, reflecting the experimental nature of the programmes.
